The Halkyon Gates Are Closing

As the year draws to a close we are preparing the launch of our new course Philosophy as the Art of Living. The course will be out in a couple of weeks. At around the same time, all our other courses will close for enrolment.

Every year, autumn invites us to reflect and end the year so that in winter can open something new can begin to grow. This is the old rhythm of study: not endless access, but a season for focused beginnings.

On September 30th, enrolment closes for the full Halkyon Academy catalog — nearly 30 self-study courses. They won't reopen until 2027.

Not because the material will vanish, but because I want the people taking them to take them for real; to have started before the year turns inward, rather than leaving them sitting in a queue of "someday." I'm turning my full attention to my next live cohort through 2027, and when I return to the self-study catalog, I want to give it the same care.

Philosophy as the Art of Living, the newest course, recorded this year in a palazzo in Florence, will be open to about 60 students for self-guided study this year, when enrolment opens in a couple of weeks.

But for everything else: if you've been circling one of our courses, let this be the reason you stop circling and start deciding.

So if in the final months of this year, you wish to read some Heidegger, Hegel, Nietzsche, German Idealism, Kant, Aristotle, or Plato — now is the best time to act.
